Bob Kane (born Robert Kahn) sketched a bat-winged hero; writer Bill Finger, another son of Jewish immigrants, gave him his cowl, his origin, Gotham City and his name 'the Dark Knight'. Finger's role was only fully credited in 2015 — his story is also a story about creators' rights.
