Yitzhak 'Antek' Zuckerman

Yitzhak Zuckerman, known as Antek, was deputy commander of the Jewish Combat Organisation (ZOB) in Warsaw. During the uprising of April-May 1943 he was stationed outside the ghetto walls, where he procured weapons and served as the link between the fighters inside and the Polish Home Army; with Simcha Rotem he organised the sewer escape that saved the surviving fighters on 10 May. In 1944 he led some three hundred and twenty surviving ghetto fighters in the Polish Warsaw Uprising. After the war he worked in the Bricha network, emigrated in 1947, co-founded Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot and the Ghetto Fighters' House museum with Zivia Lubetkin, and testified at the Eichmann trial in 1961.
