Moses ibn Tibbon was a Provençal Jewish physician and one of the great medieval translators, active around 1240–1283 in Marseille, who rendered major scientific, medical and philosophical works from Arabic into Hebrew, including writings of Averroes, Avicenna, Euclid and Maimonides. Through his translations, part of the Ibn Tibbon family's scholarly dynasty, Greek and Arabic learning reached Jewish and later European readers. He was Jewish.
