Shem-Tov ben Isaac of Tortosa was a Jewish physician and translator who rendered major Arabic medical works into Hebrew, most notably the surgical encyclopedia of Al-Zahrawi (Albucasis), making Arabic medicine accessible to Hebrew-reading physicians in Christian Europe. He worked chiefly in Marseille in the thirteenth century. He was a practicing Jew of the Sephardic tradition.
