Ehud Hrushovski

Hrushovski, an Israeli Jewish mathematician (son of the literary scholar Benjamin Harshav), is one of the most influential logicians of his generation, working in model theory and its applications to algebra and geometry. His 'Hrushovski constructions' and proofs of long-standing conjectures — including a model-theoretic proof of the geometric Mordell–Lang conjecture — connected pure logic to number theory and algebraic geometry. He has held chairs at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Oxford.
