Ariadna Scriabina is recognized among Israeli contributors to Heroes of Israel — Poet and daughter of the composer Alexander Scriabin, who converted to Judaism and co-founded the Armee Juive; killed by the Milice in 1944.
Ariadna Scriabina was the eldest daughter of the Russian composer Alexander Scriabin, baptised in the Orthodox rite as a child. In Paris she wrote poetry among the Russian emigration, married the Jewish poet Dovid Knut, converted to Judaism and took the Hebrew name Sarah. Under the Occupation, as 'Régine', she co-founded the Armée Juive with her husband, Abraham Polonski and Lucien Lublin, and organised the Jewish resistance in the south of France — hiding people, forging papers, running the line over the Pyrenees.
She was shot dead in a Toulouse street by a Milice agent on 22 July 1944, weeks before the Liberation, and was awarded the Croix de guerre and the Medal of the Resistance posthumously.
