Alexander Zeisal 'Zus' Bielski was the fighter among the brothers. Where Tuvia insisted the group's purpose was to save lives, Zus pressed for combat, and led the armed missions — supply raids, sabotage, reprisals against collaborators — that let the camp survive in the Naliboki forest. Between them, the brothers brought some 1,200 Jews through the war: the largest armed rescue of Jews by Jews in the Second World War. He emigrated to New York after the war and, with Tuvia, drove a delivery truck.
