Yuval Raphael, born in Tel Aviv in 2000, survived the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival on 7 October 2023. She hid in a roadside shelter near Be'eri with about fifty people, was wounded by shrapnel from grenades thrown inside, and lay under bodies for eight hours; eleven of those in the shelter came out alive. She won the eleventh season of HaKokhav HaBa in January 2025 and represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest that year with 'New Day Will Rise', a ballad in English, French and Hebrew. She finished second with 357 points, first in the public vote.
