Avi Toledano was born in 1948 in Meknes, Morocco, to a Jewish family, moved to Casablanca at five and immigrated to Israel in 1965. At the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest he came second for Israel with 'Hora', 100 points. The following year he wrote 'Chai' for Ofra Haza, which came second as well: two consecutive runner-up places, one as a performer and one as a composer. He also wrote 'L'chaim' for Haim Moshe in 1986, released albums from 1969 onward and acted in Israeli films.
