Yaacov Levitzki

Yaacov (Jacob) Levitzki was a mathematician who made seminal contributions to the theory of noncommutative rings, including the Levitzki radical (the largest locally nilpotent ideal), Levitzky's theorem on nil ideals, and, with Amitsur, the Amitsur–Levitzki theorem on polynomial identities. He immigrated to Mandatory Palestine and taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was Jewish.
