Roy Richard Grinker Sr. was an American psychiatrist and neurologist who, with John Spiegel, produced the influential wartime study 'Men Under Stress' on combat stress, and who advanced research in psychosomatic medicine. He directed the psychiatric institute at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and had briefly been analyzed by Sigmund Freud. He was of Jewish background and is listed among noted Jewish psychiatrists.
