Jules Masserman

Masserman, a Jewish immigrant who came to the United States as a child, became a professor of neurology and psychiatry at Northwestern University. He was known for controlled experiments inducing 'experimental neurosis' in animals, which he used to build his system of 'biodynamics' linking physiological and psychological accounts of behavior. He served as president of leading bodies including the American Psychiatric Association and the Association for Biological Psychiatry.
