Nicholas J. Hoff

Nicholas J. Hoff was a Hungarian-born American engineer and a founding figure in aerospace structures, who built and led aeronautics departments at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and Stanford and received the ASME's von Kármán Medal in 1972. He trained at ETH Zurich and emigrated to the United States in 1938. Publicly available biographies do not document his religious background, though he appears on community rosters of Jewish figures in mechanics.
