Arpad Nadai

Arpad L. Nadai was a Hungarian-born engineer and pioneer of the theory of plasticity and the plastic flow of metals, whose books and papers laid foundations for modern engineering mechanics of materials. After working in Germany he emigrated to the United States in 1923 and spent much of his career at Westinghouse; the ASME Nadai Medal is named in his honour. He is listed among Jewish figures in Jewish biographical compilations; mainstream biographies do not detail his religious background.
