Lotfi Zadeh is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Invented fuzzy logic and fuzzy set theory.
Zadeh, a mathematician and engineer at UC Berkeley, introduced fuzzy sets (1965) and fuzzy logic, a framework for reasoning with degrees of truth that underpins many control systems and AI applications. His mother, Fanya Korenman, was a Russian Jewish physician; his father was an Iranian Azerbaijani Muslim, so he had Jewish ancestry on his mother's side.
