Joseph Shuster was a Canadian-American comic book artist who co-created Superman with writer Jerry Siegel.
Joe Shuster was the artist who, with writer Jerry Siegel, created Superman, first published in 1938, defining the visual template of the modern superhero. His clean, dynamic drawing style launched the American comic-book industry's Golden Age. He was born in Toronto to a Jewish immigrant family; both creators drew on their Jewish immigrant experience in shaping the outsider-hero.
