Jack Kirby is recognized among Jewish contributors to Superhero Creators — Co-created Captain America and Marvel Comics
Jack Kirby, born Jacob Kurtzberg, co-created Captain America with Joe Simon in 1941 and later, with Stan Lee, helped originate much of the Marvel universe including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Hulk. His dynamic drawing style transformed American comics. He was Jewish, the son of Austrian Jewish immigrants, raised on New York's Lower East Side.
