Boris Levitan is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Inverse spectral theory and almost periodic functions
Boris Moiseevich Levitan was a Soviet and later American mathematician known for pioneering work on almost periodic functions and, above all, on inverse spectral theory of Sturm–Liouville operators, reconstructing an operator from its spectral data. He taught at Moscow University for decades before emigrating to the United States in 1992. He was Jewish.
