Shmuel Shtrikman is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Continuum mechanics
Shtrikman was an Israeli physicist at the Weizmann Institute of Science who, with Zvi Hashin, derived the Hashin–Shtrikman bounds — the tightest general bounds on the effective properties of composite materials — a landmark result cited thousands of times, for which he received the Israel Prize in Physics (2003). He was Jewish, born in Brest and raised in Mandatory Palestine after immigrating in 1934.
