Boris Bresler

Bresler was an American structural engineer and long-serving professor at UC Berkeley whose research on reinforced concrete — including the widely taught 'Bresler' interaction methods for columns under combined loading — and on structural materials shaped the field; he authored the textbook Reinforced Concrete Engineering. He was a Guggenheim Fellow and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Widely available biographies document his engineering career but do not record a Jewish identity; he appears on a subject roster of Jews in continuum mechanics.
