How & why

Robert Simha was an Austrian-born American polymer physicist, a pioneer of the free-volume theory of the glassy state and of the physical properties of macromolecules, honored with the Bingham Medal of the Society of Rheology in 1973. Educated in Vienna, he emigrated to the United States and taught at Case Western Reserve University. He came from a Jewish family and left Europe amid the rise of Nazism.
