Robert Green Sachs was an American theoretical physicist known for foundational contributions to nuclear physics, including the Sachs form factors describing the electromagnetic structure of the nucleon and important work on time-reversal symmetry; he was a founder and director of the Argonne National Laboratory and led the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago. He came from a family of Eastern European Jewish origin. (The 'Sachs-Wolfe effect' in cosmology is named for a different physicist, Rainer K. Sachs.)
