Peter Ozsváth is an American mathematician at Princeton University who, with Zoltán Szabó, created Heegaard Floer homology, a powerful invariant of three- and four-dimensional manifolds that reshaped low-dimensional topology; he received the Oswald Veblen Prize in 2007. He is of Hungarian-Jewish descent: his mother, scholar Zsuzsanna Ozsváth, is a Holocaust survivor from Budapest.
