Max Eitingon was a psychoanalyst and close associate of Sigmund Freud who, in 1920, founded and financed the Berlin Psychoanalytic Polyclinic and its training institute, the model for all later systematic psychoanalytic education. Forced out by the Nazis, he emigrated to Jerusalem in 1933 and founded the Palestine Psychoanalytic Institute. He came from a wealthy Russian-Jewish family.
