Biography

Lynda Resnick is recognized among Jewish contributors to Economics & Business — Co-owner and vice-chair of The Wonderful Company — POM Wonderful, Wonderful Pistachios, FIJI Water, Halos, Teleflora — and with her husband the donor of the largest gift ever made for environmental sustainability research

How & why

Lynda Resnick was born Lynda Rae Harris to a Jewish family in Baltimore and raised in Philadelphia. She founded her own advertising agency in 1961, at nineteen, and with her husband Stewart built The Wonderful Company, a four-billion-dollar business whose brands — POM Wonderful, Wonderful Pistachios, FIJI Water, Halos mandarins, Teleflora — she made household names; the 'Get Crackin'' campaign she directed took pistachios from a niche nut to a staple. In 2019 the Resnicks pledged 750 million dollars to Caltech, at the time the largest gift ever made for research into environmental sustainability, and they founded and fund the Wonderful College Prep Academy, two public charter schools serving 2,400 pupils in California's Central Valley.
