Louis S. Goodman was an American pharmacologist who, with Alfred Gilman, co-authored The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics, the foundational textbook of clinical pharmacology known simply as 'Goodman and Gilman.' The pair also pioneered cancer chemotherapy by using nitrogen mustard to treat lymphoma in the 1940s. He was Jewish, and helped establish pharmacology as a rigorous clinical science.
