Lee Smolin

Smolin, from a Jewish family, is an American theoretical physicist and a founding faculty member of the Perimeter Institute in Canada. He is a leading developer of loop quantum gravity, a major approach to unifying general relativity with quantum mechanics, and proposed the idea of cosmological natural selection. His popular books, such as The Trouble with Physics, have influenced debate over the direction of fundamental physics.
