Kurt Heinrich Wolff was a German-American sociologist who was the first major English translator and interpreter of Georg Simmel, and who also rendered key works of Karl Mannheim and Émile Durkheim into English. He contributed to the sociology of knowledge and to qualitative, phenomenological approaches, teaching for decades at Brandeis University. He fled Nazi Germany because of his Jewish background.
