Julius Hirsch was a German footballer who won two national championships with Karlsruher FV and SpVgg Fürth and, in 1911, became one of the first Jewish players to represent the German national team. As a Jew he was persecuted under the Nazis, deported to Auschwitz in 1943 and murdered; since 2005 the German Football Association has awarded the Julius Hirsch Prize for tolerance and integration in his memory.
