Judah Halevi is recognized among Jewish contributors to Philosophy & Social Sciences — Medieval Jewish poet and philosopher, author of 'The Kuzari'
Judah Halevi was one of the greatest Hebrew poets of medieval Spain, author of nearly 800 secular and religious poems including the celebrated 'Zionide' odes to Jerusalem, and of 'The Kuzari', a philosophical defense of Judaism framed as a dialogue at the court of the Khazar king. A physician and religious thinker, he was a devout Jew whose longing for the Land of Israel led him to leave Spain late in life for the Holy Land. His work is a cornerstone of the Jewish literary and philosophical tradition.
