Horner was an American film composer whose lush, melodic scores for 'Titanic', 'Avatar', 'Braveheart' and dozens of other films made him one of Hollywood's most celebrated composers; he won two Academy Awards for 'Titanic' (score and the song 'My Heart Will Go On'). He died in a private plane crash. He was of Jewish descent through his father, the production designer Harry Horner, an émigré from Central Europe.
