Jacob Gershon-Cohen was an American radiologist and researcher who pioneered mammography for the early detection of breast cancer and was among the first to call for widespread breast-cancer screening of women over fifty. Director of radiology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, he authored more than 400 papers and received the Gold Medal of the International College of Radiology. He was born in Philadelphia to a Jewish family.
