Israel Scheffler was an American philosopher of science, language, and education who taught at Harvard for four decades, and his 1960 book The Language of Education pioneered the analytic study of educational concepts. He was an observant Jew who completed rabbinical-school training and earned an M.H.L. at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America before his philosophy doctorate.
