Isaak Khalatnikov is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Physicist; superfluidity and cosmological singularities (BKL)
Isaak Khalatnikov was a Soviet theoretical physicist who, with Lev Landau, worked on superfluidity and quantum electrodynamics, and who — with Vladimir Belinski and Evgeny Lifshitz — described the chaotic 'BKL' behaviour of cosmological singularities near the Big Bang. He was Jewish, and became the founding director of the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics. His name endures in the BKL conjecture, a cornerstone of general-relativistic cosmology.
