Fritz Wittels was an Austrian psychoanalyst, physician and writer, an early member of Freud's inner circle and author of the first full-length biography of Sigmund Freud (1924). After emigrating he practised and taught psychoanalysis in New York. He was born into a Jewish family in Vienna.
