Eliezer Berkovits

Berkovits was an Orthodox rabbi, Jewish theologian and philosopher who trained at the Hildesheimer Rabbinical Seminary in Berlin and later taught in the United States and Israel. He is best known for works such as 'Faith After the Holocaust', which wrestled with theodicy and the hiddenness of God while remaining firmly within halakhic Judaism. A committed and observant Jew, he defended the vitality of Jewish law as a living, adaptable system.
