Daniel "Danny" Gold is an Israeli engineer and brigadier general who, as head of the Israeli Directorate of Defense Research and Development, championed and initiated the Iron Dome short-range rocket-interception system, which entered service in 2011. He received the Israel Defense Prize for the project. He is Jewish, born in Tel Aviv to Hungarian Holocaust-survivor parents.
