Biography

Yishai Mishor is recognized among Israeli contributors to Israel & Modern Innovation — Founder (2020) of the Israeli food-technology company Meat. The End, which developed Burger King Israel's plant-based Whopper (2022) and a texturised chickpea-protein burger (2023)

How & why

Origins and early life

Yishai Mishor spent the first part of his career in Israel in law, academia and politics, and he describes himself as holding a doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he also taught.

Work and career

By his own account he served in the Knesset as chief of staff under several leaders of the opposition before leaving politics at the end of 2019. About a decade earlier he had founded his first start-up, Ein Hamishpat, a legal search engine used by lawyers and judges in Israel. In early 2020 he founded Meat. The End, an Israeli food-technology company that adds proprietary steps to existing extrusion machinery to give plant proteins the texture of meat, and it filed its first patent in 2021.

Its first major client was Burger King Israel, which in October 2022 launched a plant-based Whopper and nuggets developed with the company, first at a pop-up branch in Tel Aviv's Dizengoff Center. Within a year, Mishor said at the launch, the company had developed meat alternatives that beat the world's biggest competitors in taste tests. In April 2023 it announced what it called the world's first burger made from texturised chickpea protein, which, he said, behaves exactly like meat in the pan, in the oven or on the grill.

No source states his Jewish identity in so many words: the Jerusalem Post placed him 41st in its 2023 list of the fifty most influential Jews, and an Israeli founder's biography has little reason to mention it. He is here under the Israeli presumption the site adopted on 7 September 2026 and extended on 15 October 2026 — a Hebrew given name, a life in Israel and a strong attested tie, here the founding of two Israeli companies — which is a presumption and not a declaration, and which any contrary source overturns.
