Aron Dolgopolsky is recognized among Jewish contributors to Philosophy & Social Sciences — Linguist, co-founder of the Nostratic hypothesis of ancient language macrofamilies.
Aron Dolgopolsky was a comparative linguist who, with Vladislav Illich-Svitych, co-developed the Nostratic hypothesis, which proposes that several major Old World language families descend from a single prehistoric macro-family. Emigrating from the USSR to Israel, he taught at the University of Haifa and compiled a major Nostratic dictionary. He was from a Jewish family and, as a Soviet Jew, emigrated to Israel in 1976.
