Wolfgang Rindler was a physicist and relativist whose textbooks taught generations of students, and who popularized the term 'event horizon' and the study of accelerated observers through the Rindler coordinates named after him. He spent much of his career at the University of Texas at Dallas. Born to a Jewish family in Vienna, he escaped Nazi Austria as a child on the Kindertransport to England.
