Vladimir Jurowski is a Russian-born conductor from a distinguished Jewish musical family; his father, Mikhail Jurowski, was also a conductor. He has held leading posts including principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and music director of the Bavarian State Opera, and is admired for wide-ranging, intellectually searching programming. He built much of his career in Germany and Britain.
