Victoria Kaspi is Jewish, and grew up between the United States and Montreal. She directs the McGill Space Institute, works on pulsars, magnetars and fast radio bursts, and in 2016 became the first woman awarded the NSERC Herzberg Gold Medal, Canada's highest honour in science and engineering; she also received the Albert Einstein World Award of Science in 2022.
