Tibor Gallai was a Hungarian mathematician who made lasting contributions to graph theory and combinatorics, most famously the Gallai–Edmonds structure theorem on matchings and early results on interval and comparability graphs. A close collaborator of Paul Erdős, he helped shape modern combinatorics and was a devoted teacher. Gallai, born Grünwald, came from a Hungarian-Jewish family in Budapest.
