Simon Schaffer

Schaffer is a historian and philosopher of science at the University of Cambridge whose book 'Leviathan and the Air-Pump' (1985), co-written with Steven Shapin, transformed the field by showing how experimental facts depend on the social conventions of the community that certifies them. The work won the Erasmus Prize and became a foundational text of science and technology studies.
