Semyon Frank is recognized among Jewish contributors to Philosophy & Social Sciences — Russian religious philosopher
Frank was one of the foremost Russian religious philosophers, building a metaphysics of 'total-unity' that sought to reconcile reason and faith. Born into a Moscow Jewish family, he converted to Russian Orthodox Christianity in 1912 and was expelled from Soviet Russia in 1922 on the 'philosophers' ships,' living out his life in exile in Berlin, Paris and London. His writings remain central to the tradition of Russian idealist thought.
