Samuel Danishefsky

Danishefsky, an American chemist who earned his bachelor's degree at Yeshiva University, became one of the great masters of the total synthesis of complex natural products, many with anticancer activity. He introduced the widely used 'Danishefsky diene' and pioneered the chemical synthesis of carbohydrate-based anticancer vaccines. He has worked at Columbia University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
