Sam Houser

Samuel Houser was born in London in November 1971. His Jewish descent is on his father's side: his paternal grandfather Isaac Houser was an Austrian Jewish immigrant to England, documented in the 1901 England and Wales census and in his marriage record. His father Walter was a solicitor, his mother Geraldine Moffatt an actress. He read at the University of London and Cambridge, worked at BMG, and in 1998 co-founded Rockstar Games with his brother Dan and three others. As producer from Grand Theft Auto III in 2001 he drove the series that made the open-world game the dominant form of its medium; Grand Theft Auto V is among the highest-grossing entertainment products ever released. The games are for adults and are violent and satirical by design, which is the object of most of the controversy around them.
