Robert Rossen was an American screenwriter, director and producer who wrote and directed 'All the King's Men' (1949), winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, and 'The Hustler' (1961). A former Communist Party member, he was blacklisted before resuming his career. He was born into a Jewish family on New York's Lower East Side.
