Ann Druyan

Ann Druyan was born in Queens, New York, on 13 June 1949, the daughter of Pearl and Harry Druyan, who ran a knitwear firm; her family was Jewish. In the late 1970s she became creative director of NASA's Voyager Interstellar Message Project, choosing the music and images for the golden records fixed to Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 — the only human artefacts now leaving the solar system. She co-wrote the 1980 series Cosmos with Carl Sagan, whom she married in 1981, and created, produced and wrote its sequels Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey and Cosmos: Possible Worlds, which won Emmy and Peabody awards and were seen in more than sixty countries.
