Carl Reiner (born Robert Reiner) was an American-Jewish actor, comedian, writer, and director who shaped American comedy for seven decades.

Carl Reiner was an American comedian, actor, director and writer who created The Dick Van Dyke Show and, with Mel Brooks, the '2000 Year Old Man' routines, winning many Emmy Awards. He was born into a Jewish family in the Bronx, the son of Austrian and Romanian Jewish immigrants.
